Sarah Grimes

Sarah Grimes is an interdisciplinary drummer based between Waterford and Dublin. Her work spans across post-punk, folk, experimental and improvised music. She currently performs with Rising Damp and Brigid Mae Power as well as post-punk group Grave Goods who she co-founded.
Grimes has played at festivals and venues across Ireland, Europe, India, the UK and US and has released several records throughout her career with her current and former bands including September Girls, Cruising, Bl_ck R_b_ts and The Debutantes.
Additionally, she has played on various records with other artists, most recently, Katie Kim.
In addition to creating work in bands, Sarah is interested in exploring ways that drums can be used across interdisciplinary mediums. In recent years she has collaborated with several visual artists. These works have been shown and performed in the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Project Arts Centre, Hugh Lane Gallery, Temple Bar Gallery and Studios.
Grimes has been awarded an Artlinks Bursary (2024), the Arts Council of Ireland’s Next Generation Artists’ Award (2023), Music Bursary Award and Agility Award.
