The Funder

Improvising Across Boundaries is a funded SFI-IRC Pathway Fellowship research project. It will run from September 2023 until August 2027, led by Dr Sarah Raine and hosted at University College Dublin’s School of Music.

The SFI-IRC Pathway Programme aims to support talented postdoctoral researchers from all research disciplines to develop their track record and transition to become independent research leaders. This fellowship is co-funded by Science Foundation Ireland and the Irish Research Council.

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funds research in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) which promotes and assists the development and competitiveness of industry, enterprise and employment in Ireland. The Foundation also promotes and supports STEM education and engagement, and creates awareness and understanding of the value of STEM to society and to the growth of the economy.

The Irish Research Council (IRC) is the key national funder of research across all disciplines, and the only funder that supports basic research in the arts, humanities and social sciences. IRC’s focus is on ensuring support for exceptional researchers as they develop their ideas across the key stages of their career.
